Loved the swimming area here. Came on a hot summer day and it was just the ticket to cooling off and relaxing with friends. This is a pearl of a spot just outside of Rochester. Wonderful place to camp, picnic, hike, fish and take in the beautiful surrounding. Any time of the year is a great time to explore and enjoy the park.
Everything to love on land and water. Just don't expect to mountain bike here. Catching little pan fish with the kids from the fishing pier is fun. Bring lots of worms. Bring your own or rent a kayak/paddle board/canoe... and enjoy floating through the trees. Hit the beach for a little swimming. The hiking trails double great cross country skiing in the winter. Snowshoeing in winter offers more virgin forest than pretty much anything else in the area. Stop once for the day, then buy a yearly pass the next time you visit.
Very nice local county park features a Campground well stocked lake and several daycamp/picknic areas as well as several miles of walking trails. Friendly staff and well laid out recreation area make for a great out door experience without getting too far away from town you can be totally surrounded by nature and still have a pizza delivered to your campsite.
We enjoy camping at Chester Woods. Perfect campground not too far from home (Rochester). Nice quiet, well maintained campground. Bathrooms are clean and showers are hot.
Fun park with lot of sheltered picnic areas! Kids can njoy the beach activities and parents can seat and relax watching them make sand castles. Well maintained washrooms and shower areas!
